Are you interested in teaching in English at basic or advanced level at the Faculty of Medicine?
Faculty of Medicine has the following international programmes that have English as language of instruction:
- Biomedicine - Bachelor’s and Master's Programme
- Public Health - Master’s Programme
- Medical Science - Master’s Programme
- The Medical Programme (contains a few activities where English is sufficient, please see below on this webpage).
If you have a teacher employment you will be prioritised when appointing teaching assignments.
How to apply
The appointment process varies between the programmes. All programmes give priority to you who have a teaching position when recruiting.
In the first instance, you should contact your assistant head of department with responsibility for education at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Below you find specific information from some of our programs. It describes how teaching assignments are appointed to these.
Both the Bachelor and Master programmes in biomedicine have English as language of instruction and admit students from all over the world.
All major teaching assignments (course leader and examiner) are appointed in competition by the programme director after counselling with the chair of the programme board.
Such assignments are announced via email (teachers list) and the Faculty of Medicine’s newsletter and an application should be sent to the programme director.
All other teaching assignments are appointed by the course leader for the respective course based on competence and experience. If you are interested in teaching in a specific course you should contact the course leader. You find a list of the courses and contact information to the course leader here:

The teaching in the Medical programme is generally in Swedish. However, there are a few instances where English is sufficient:
Semester 1
Project lab – 2-3 students spend 1-2 days at a research lab, and get a general introduction and perform an experiment. They shall also put together a lab report. If you are interested in supervising, please send an email to: T1 [at] med [dot] lu [dot] se (T1[at]med[dot]lu[dot]se)
Semester 3
Analysis of a controversial scientific issue – The students shall put together an analysis in English. If you are interested in assessing such analyses, please send an email to: T3 [at] med [dot] lu [dot] se (T3[at]med[dot]lu[dot]se)
Semester 5 and 10
Scientific project – The students carry out scientific projects of ~7 weeks (semester 5) or one semester (semester 10). You can register a project in our database for scientific projects. Thereby the students can find it when they search for projects.
Most programmes have Swedish as language of instruction.
