Every year, the best PBL tutor is appointed. The medical students nominate and the Swedish Medical Association, Student in Lund appoints. The 2023 award went to Senior Lecturer Catarina Rippe. Congratulations!

How does it feel, Catarina Rippe, Department of Experimental Medical Science?
"It feels great and I'm very happy about the award.

What does the award mean to you personally?
"It means a lot to me that the students appreciate my efforts as a PBL tutor. After many years as a tutor, it's fantastic to get confirmation that what I do is good. But there's always room for improvement.

Why do you think you became this year's PBL tutor?
"I think it's incredibly fun to be a PBL tutor and I think the students notice and appreciate that. I'm committed and attentive and try to facilitate the discussions by asking questions and letting the students find solutions to the problems, themselves.

What's Problem-Based Learning (PBL)?

It's a method where learning is based on reality-based situations that are discussed and reflected on in groups. The role of the tutor (supervisor) is to support and challenge the students to build knowledge and understand contexts.
