Why have you developed a new leadership course?
“Research has shown that strong research environments require good leadership. The faculty wants to create the right conditions to continue producing world-class research. The purpose of the new leadership program is to strengthen the good leadership of future international research leaders, to expand interdisciplinary collaborations and collaborations outside academia, and to strengthen awareness of the sustainability perspective in all activities.”
When the knowledge from the course is put into practice, how do you hope the ongoing work will be affected?
“The goals of the program are to give the participants tools for communicative leadership, psychological safety, group development and conflict resolution. The programme will also provide insights into how Swedish research is organised, build collegial support networks, and equip participants for interdisciplinary collaboration and collaboration with industry. This will hopefully have effects further out in the business in the form of a good work environment, creativity and productivity. Expected effects are also increased collaborations with the outside world and a higher degree of utilization of research.”
Each department can nominate up to three people who meet the qualification requirements, are interested and are able to participate. After a selection process within the faculty management, eight people will be dmitted to the programme. How is the selection made?
“The selection is made so that the group is balanced with regard to gender, department affiliation, international background, and research area.”
