The role of a research administrator can look very different. For Lisette Jelivi, the focus is more on administration and less on finances.
"I really enjoy my work, it's incredibly varied," she says.

What does a research administrator do?
"I support researchers, heads of divisions and the 74 doctoral students in "my" departments. It can be anything from handling incoming invoices in Lupin, study administration in Ladok, travel expenses in Primula, assignment management in Lucat to booking travel and hotel as well as ordering research materials, computers and licenses. Every semester, I communicate grants that can be applied for at the divisions and remind them of deadlines. Minutes at various department meetings are also included and two to three times per semester I compile newsletters at one of the departments."

During my four years at LU, I have had the pleasure of helping with more than 25 dissertations, which has been both exciting and instructive. It's fantastic to be involved at such an important time in the doctoral students' education!

"When the doctoral students defend their theses, I support in the planning work, which can be advertising, booking of premises, travel and hotels, as well as ordering of refreshments and flowers. I am on site during the dissertation to make sure that everything works practically and I often help to set the table with food and serve drinks. The follow-up work includes registration of expenses and opponent fees. During my four years at LU, I have had the pleasure of helping with more than 25 dissertations, which has been both exciting and instructive. It is fantastic to be involved at such an important time in the doctoral students' education!"

What's the best thing about your job?
"One of my most challenging and fun tasks is to be a course administrator on the international OB/GYN course and on the continuing education course in Preeclampsia Care that is held every spring in different locations. It's planning work with many balls in the air, budgeting and contact with many new people."
"I really enjoy my work, it's incredibly varied! The work is independent, developing and I have a great opportunity to control the structure and implementation."
