The Faculty of Medicine has developed a seminar series for research leaders at the Faculty. The seminar series will address issues that are part of the daily working life of research leaders.
"It’s important to understand how the university is managed and how funds are distributed, to be able to navigate the organisation", says David Gisselsson Nord, Vice Dean and one of the initiators of the seminar series.
The seminar series will also raise issues relating to collaborations with industry and research impact in different ways, eg through translational research, to leadership in crises and difficult situations, and to large-scale changes happening with the entry of precision medicine into research.
"The landscape that a research leader operates in is becoming more and more complex. The competition for research funds is hard, the surrounding world is changing fast, and on our global labour market, many will be getting in close contact with ongoing crises and conflicts in the world. We need to be able to deal with this in a good way", says David Gisselsson Nord.
Research funders are increasingly emphasizing the importance of research impact, for example through innovation and cross- and transdisciplinary research.
The seminar series is part of a special effort to develop leadership among new professors at the Faculty of Medicine, but the lectures will be open for other research leaders and coworkers at the faculty. The lectures will be given in English.
