The Mats Paulsson´s foundation for research, innovation and societal development promotes scientific research in life science. Since 2019, priority is given to supporting research projects with high innovation potential and relevance to society in the near future.

Since 2019, the Foundation has awarded SEK 53.2 million in grants to 27 research projects of this type at Lund University and Malmö University.

With the above-mentioned focus, the Foundation invites the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University and Malmö University to prioritize applications within the following project types in 2023:

  • Innovative research projects in life sciences
  • Innovative research projects specifically in ATMP and/or cancer
  • Equipment critical for the implementation of specific innovative research projects in life science

Application documents and instructions

The documents to be sent to birgitta [dot] larsson [at] med [dot] lu [dot] se (birgitta[dot]larsson[at]med[dot]lu[dot]se) are specified in Appendix 1 of the management rules (see below).

The applicant is responsible for submitting the following:

  1. Preliminarily completed checklist that the faculty can review and complete (Appendix 2 below).
  2. Draft of the motivation letter in a Word document. Please note that this should be plain text and not in a letter template or signed by someone.
  3. Complete CV (Appendix 3 below).
  4. Project description.
  5. For nominated external candidates who did not participate in the excellence initiative with a focus on WAF: A justification stating why they want to establish their research at Lund University written in a Word document.
  6. Co-financing certificate signed by head of department (Appendix 4 below).

The EU-funded research project AMBER, Advanced Multiscale Biological imaging with European Research infrastructures, is announcing 15 positions in its second postdoctoral call. Deadline 6th of September.

Scientists holding (or about to receive soon) a PhD in the areas of physics, chemistry, medical sciences, biological sciences, or other relevant areas are welcome to apply.
