Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) are fundamental for people’s wellbeing. The promotion of SRHR is an important part of international development cooperation, and external funding is crucial for the provision of health services in many countries. Still, evidence of what works in SRHR aid is incomplete.
A new report by the Expert Group for Aid Studies (EBA) provides a piece of the evidence puzzle by exploring what role aid plays in increasing access to sexual and reproductive health services. How can these results inform aid programming and what forms of evidence, knowledge or data are needed to ensure effective SRHR aid? What are the knowledge gaps regarding what types of SRHR aid are most effective and relevant, and how do donors recognize success or failure?
