The Swedish Security Service (Säpo) has raised the terrorist threat level to level 4 (high threat) out of 5. According to the Swedish Security Service, the increase should be seen in the light of, among other things, the Koran burnings and the deteriorating security situation in the outside world due to the war in Ukraine. The increased terrorist threat level has not been caused by any specific threat, but it is estimated that the high threat level will persist for a long time and therefore the relevant activities and authorities need to adapt accordingly.
The Security Service and the Government urge all of society to continue as usual and this is also what is recommended regarding the University. As an extra precaution, we are reviewing our access control systems to prevent access by unauthorized persons. However, the University already has a good level of security with everything from mobile and fixed surveillance, access control systems, alarms, etc. that have been built up over several years, which now makes the need for major measures small. The University's Security Department continuously monitors developments and takes action if necessary.
