Fire at BMC in Lund – fire extinguished, return possible

Logotype of Faculty of Medicine, Lund University. Illustration.

The fire that broke out Saturday 25 May in a solar cell system on the roof of BMC in Lund has now been extinguished and the rescue service has announced that it is possible to use the premises again.

It is once again possible to work on the site, with the exception of the rooms on B15 which are closed until further notice and B14 is only open to those who have their workplace there. No person was injured in the fire. No biological material was damaged by the fire, which means operations at the faculty can continue without further interruption.

The crisis management team we have had in place to handle the situation has now been phased out and the responsibility for further handling of the consequences of the fire is now transferred to the regular managers in the organisation. We thank you for your help and willingness to cooperate in this situation.

Regards,
Faculty crisis management team
