Report from the Faculty Board meeting (5 June 2024)

The Board of the Faculty of Medicine (MFS) has held a meeting.

The meeting started with a report fom Vice Dean David Gisselsson Nord about the handling of the fire at BMC. Anders Rasmussen from Future Faculty announced that they now have a new board and will appoint a new chairman and thus change the representative on the faculty's board. Bo Ahrén then presented the conclusions that have been drawn so far in the ongoing investigation on how the animal operations should be handled in the future and how we can achieve the savings that will be needed there to make room for other important investments at the faculty in the future. The final report will be presented to all employees on June 17 on site at Fernströmsalen in Lund and on zoom. CFO Marie Creutzer informed about the budget conditions for 2025 and Vice Dean Eva Ageberg presented the gender equality statistics for the faculty.

Decisions

Decisions concerned a change in the management organisation for the Library and ICT, Med-service, CCM and the University veterinarian, a decision on a director for the Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine, a new steering group for the Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine and a board for the Lund University Virus Centre (LUVC). In addition to these points the board also decided on the applications for a promotion to professor of surgery combined with employment as a specialist physician/senior consultant, a promotion to professor of infectious diseases combined with employment as senior consultant, a promotion to professor of health sciences with a focus on rehabilitation in neurodegenerative diseases combined with employment as a physiotherapist, a promotion to professor of medical biochemistry and a promotion to professor of neuropsychology with a focus on brain imaging, combined with employment as a licensed psychologist.
