Uncertain and unclear career paths make academic life a challenge for younger researchers. On this theme, Future Faculty organized a panel discussion together with the Faculty of Medicine (Lund University) and the National Junior Faculty of Sweden.

One of the key speakers was the Minister of Education Mats Persson who elaborated on the government's position on academic career possibilities in Sweden:

"Attractive and sustainable research careers are essential, not only for individual researchers, but also for Sweden in order to develop and maintain our position as a leading country in both education and research. Clear and transparent conditions, both in terms of resources and career paths, must be in place for qualified individuals to consider pursuing a research career”, said Mats Persson.

Moreover, Nicole van der Burg from National Junior Faculty presented a recent survey amongst early career researchers on their perception of career prospects. The message was clear: transparent career paths are much needed for young researchers to stay in academia.

The panel disucssion was live streamed and can be watched online at any time on YouTube!
