Save the date. Sign up for the hearing on the 19 September.

Do you want to be involved in driving research and development in infection, immunity and microbiology at Lund University? Join Infect@LU and participate in the start-up meeting on September 19th!

Our vision

...is to be nationally leading

  • within the understanding of how infectious diseases work, spread and their impact on society.
  • in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.
  • in microbial pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance, and alternative treatments of microbes.

Hi Pontus Nordenfelt, Associate Professor of Infection Biology and coordinator of the initiative, what is Infect@LU?

Infect@LU is intended to be a meeting place for researchers and research networks active in infection, immunity and microbiology at Lund University and activities at Region Skåne where we can meet and drive development forward in various thematic areas.

What should Infect@LU do?

Create new interaction areas within specific focus areas, which we call thematic networks, and improve opportunities to research, recruit people and translate findings to society by coordinating the resources that already exist. We want to give those who research, or want to do research, in the fields of infection, immunity and microbiology a clearer context. The networks are run by research group leaders who meet regularly.

Tell us about the hearing in September. What happens then?

On September 19, we will have an online hearing. We want to gather as many researchers from the university or healthcare sector as possible who are interested in Infect@LU's subject areas, so that we can establish the first thematic networks. We would like to hear what opinions there are and be able to answer any questions.

What else do you have on the agenda?

We are working on producing material that can be a support for the networks' work and are slowly starting the planning for a first major meeting within Infect@LU sometime next spring.

Suggestion of thematic network areas

  • Antimicrobial resistance
  • Drug development and biotechnology
  • Epidemiology and spread of infection
  • Global health
  • Immune response and deficiency
  • Microbial pathogenesis
  • Precision medicine and immunotherapy
  • Respiratory infections
  • Sepsis
  • Vaccines

If you are interested in participating in any of them, or have other suggestions, sign up for the hearing. For questions, please contact Pontus Nordenfelt: pontus [dot] nordenfelt [at] med [dot] lu [dot] se (pontus[dot]nordenfelt[at]med[dot]lu[dot]se)
