Matteo Bruschettini, Associate Professor of Paediatrics, is the one who in 2023 published the most Cochrane reviews in the world, a total of 17.
Which review article is the most important, do you think?
“It's a difficult choice because we've done overviews on many highly topical topics, but perhaps the one on caffeine and other methylxanthines in premature infants. I was commissioned by the World Health Organization (WHO) to conduct this review as a basis for their international recommendations. The recommendations will affect millions of premature babies in many countries, including Sweden of course. Now we plan to develop recommendations for Sweden as well," says Matteo Bruschettini.
What are your plans for 2024?
“2024 will also be a fantastic year, he says and mentions the following:
- we have received funding to conduct evidence synthesis on post-COVID in children and adolescents, in collaboration with Cochrane Canada;
- we will work on a systematic review on the relationship between birth weight and diabetes 2, funded by the Swedish Research Council (main applicant: Professor Peter Nilsson);
- we will hold courses and workshops on Cochrane methodology, in Lund and other Swedish universities;
- we will publish a large number of Cochrane reviews; we publish a report on the reporting of clinical trials in the Nordic countries;
- more than 10 foreign researchers will join our work, as we have done in recent years (see Cochrane Sweden's website).
